
Jonathan Howlett is responsible for global accounts and agency relationships at BBC Advertising. Prior to his current role he was responsible for international sales heading a team based in 13 offices around the world, securing advertising and sponsorship revenue for the BBC’s ad funded channels including BBC World News, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle and BBC Knowledge. Together with on line properties BBC.com, BBC VOD and Lonely Planet, the travel business owned by the BBC.
Prior to his role at BBC Advertising, Jonathan spent more than 10 years as the Director of Airtime Sales at BBC World News Ltd.
Before joining the BBC, Jonathan worked at Carlton Television for developing commercial TV channels overseas. As Director of Sales and Marketing, he oversaw a channel launch in India. Jonathan had previously spent 17 years in commercial TV in the UK working as deputy Managing Director of Merlin, a sales house representing five independent television (ITV) regions. Before that, he was Director of Sales at Meridian TV, the ITV sales company for the south and south-east of England.
Jonathan holds an MA in Marketing from Lancaster University and has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. His interests include golf, rugby and sailing..
